Fed & Ria's Supplier Ratings
Wedding Preps…
My husband, Fed, is based in Dubai. He flew in June 10, and since then, we have been very busy in the preparations. Imagine, we have to do all these in 2 weeks: Pre-cana seminar, canonical interview, seminar for confirmation, confirmation, fittings, meetings with suppliers (caterer, bands, event stylist, coordinators) It was really stressful for us, and aside from that, we had to accommodate our relatives and friends who flew in, AND the Pamamanhikan . We were sleeping at 3 am everyday! Grabe talaga!
The first week (June 10-16) was quite ok, di pa kami ganun ka-stressed. But the anxiety was slowly building up, because we couldn’t decide where we want to hold the reception. Initially, we really wanted to book the Courtyard (garden venue), but because the weather is so unpredictable, we decided to just book the SJ Hall, which was an indoor venue. But when we did an ocular with our coordinators and the caterer, gusto talaga namin sa Courtyard, because the SJ Hall had a stage, parang pang-graduation talaga! So we decided na pakiramdaman muna namin yung panahon, baka naman gumanda-ganda ang weather…
But being the sigurista that I am, I decided to talk to an event stylist. I saw his work on Jane ni Joey’s wedding in the SJ Hall, and I am very much impressed! So we decided to meet (this was Saturday, June 17), as well as his partner. They gave us sketches for both venues and settled on a price. We thought ok na. Then come Sunday, he texted us that they cannot do it, kasi his partner backed-out daw, and lugi daw sila sa price na na-negotiate ni husband. At this point, ayaw ko nang ma-stress, so I just let go.
Grabe noh? Here goes my kwento on the….
Wedding Eve…
June 23, I was booked at the Diamond Hotel na. Hindatid ako ng husband ko, and take note… Hindi pa tapos ang AVP namin! Eh ang bagal pa naman mag write nun to a file! Our friends dropped by and wanted to have dinner, so sabi ko, sige iwanan ko na lang to (we had a laptop with us) siguro naman tapos na mag write pagbalik namin. So akala ko tapos na noh… My gawd! So wala palang electricity pag ganun! Di rin natapos yung file, and what’s worse, is I had to start all over again!!! Kaya 3am na ko nakatulog… so come…
Wedding Day…
I don’t feel refreshed, I am having butterflies in my stomach, my head hurts! And after my breakfast, I felt better. I got back to my room, and the suppliers started coming in. That’s when I decided to just let go.

Hair and Make-up by Ara Fernando – 3
Tel # 0917-847-1019
www.arafernando.com / ara_fernando@yahoo.com
Her hair stylist was the first one to arrive. She arrived siguro mga past 9 na, but she was really early! She’s very perky, ma-chika, and very patawa! At ang ganda ko huh! Nawala yung humongous eyebags ko, at sinunod nya talaga ako when I told her I don’t want the blushing bride look, I want the GLAM look! (but not too glam!) Yung make-up naman ng Mom ko, MIL and SIL are ok naman, enhanced yung features nila yet still natural looking. And tumagal yung make-up, in fairness!

Flowers by Boy Mahusay – 3
Tel # 314-5737
I love the flowers talaga! Bilib na ko kay Mang Boy! When a certain supplier asked me, “Sino florist mo?” When I said, “Si Mang Boy”. Then she goes, “Ah Dangwa…” I could sense her doubt talaga. But when I saw the flowers, panalo! He forgot the headbands for the flowergirls though, at pinagawa nya yun ASAP sa kanyang assistant.
My dad also made bamboo stands for the church aisle flowers. My mom, dad and aunt went to Mang Boy in Dangwa, with the stands for Mang Boy to do the flower arrangements. Grabe ang ganda talaga! When I walked the aisle, I was like walking in a garden full of white and green flowers! Wagi si Mang Boy (pati Dad ko for making the bamboo stands. Labor of love talaga yun!)

Bridal Gown by Veluz Reyes – 4
Tel # 0917-840-8790/ 563-8692
www.veluz.biz / veluzreyes@gmail.com
According to my coordinator, Queen, “Wala ka talagang mapipintas sa gown pag si Veluz ang gumawa.” So there. My gown is perfect!
But for a gown to be perfect, kelangan talaga perfectionist ang gagawa nun. And ganun si Veluz! Siguro I had 6 or 7 fittings, kasi di nya talaga makuha yung sa boobs ko! At first, she thought it was my shoulders… hindi daw pantay… so they had to re-do the top… then nung pag sukat ko, aba, sa neck naman! So tastas na naman sila… then akala ko ok na noh, aba, yung boobs ko naman daw yung may problema! Hindi daw pantay! And since complicated yung style ng gown ko (Nehru collar), dapat talaga pantay yung bagsak nun! And the tela used (Mikado Silk) was medyo matigas, kaya nahirapan talaga sila. You could see how metikulosa Veluz is, hindi ka talaga nya titigilan hanggang hindi perfect!
And when hubby and I went up the altar… The first thing he said was, “Nice dress!” And he slowly nodded, smiled and just looked at me. Hay, kiligz!!!!

Wedding accessories by Nikolai Hernandez – 4

Grabe, first time ata nila gumawa ng frou-frou (this is the term they used for the kaartehan sa likod ng gown) with FEATHERS! Quill daw yun! Hahaha! Pero ang ganda talaga, pati yung hair piece, bag and shoes. Sobrang love ko sila ever!

Groom’s barong by Veluz Reyes – 3
And I want him to feel rin Veluz’ personal touch, kung pano sya mag-asikaso. First fitting nya, medyo naluwagan si hubby, so pinabawasan nya yung sa tummy nya. Hehehe, then when he fit it again Friday afternoon (day before our wedding), napansin nya na medyo naka-umbok yung sa left shoulder nya. Something to do with the lining, I guess. We could have just let it go, but I know Veluz would never do that, so I texted Niko, and nagpunta sya kaagad sa hotel para kunin yung barong at para ayusin.

Mothers’ gowns by Catalina’s – 3
Tel # 0917-603-1857
Grabe! Mrs. Chua is very accommodating! Hay, sana nga sa kanya ko na lang pinagawa yung ento gowns, but that’s another story. Pulido yung tahi and perfect fit rin. She also did the gowns of my 2 aunts, 3 days before the wedding! Sobrang rush talaga, because my aunts flew in from the states. Very affordable rin ang price.

Entourage gowns by Marixi Ocampo – 2
Tel # 0917-526-9301 / 861-2336
Marixi was recommended by Veluz, because she also did the ento gowns of one of Veluz’ brides, and because Marixi is also from the South, kaya malapit lang sa min. It was Veluz who designed the ento gowns, and Marixi was the one who executed them, and Veluz was happy naman with the results. In my case naman, I just got designs from magazines. At first, I decided to get Catalina’s na, but then most of my abays are based abroad and would just be flying in for the wedding, so if their gowns don’t fit, ayoko naman na papuntahin ko pa sila sa Divisoria. So I got Marixi, kasi sya mismo yung pupunta sa house nyo for the fittings. So what I did was to send a measurement guide to my abays for them to fill out, then I just gave them to Marixi. Ok naman sya to work with, and ok rin naman yung results. Yun nga lang, alam mo na mas may igaganda pa, but I’m after the convenience of my abays, so ok na rin. I guess if you have the same situation as mine (with abays based abroad), I would recommend Marixi, pero if mostly naman are based locally, I recommend Catalina’s pa rin.

Event Styling by Interplay (Lala Baldelovar) – 4
When the event stylist we initially talked to backed out, we were having sleepless nights, hoping that the weather would be favorable, so that we don’t have to hire an event stylist, as the Courtyard’s ambience would suffice. But the weather is so unpredictable, and we could just not risk it, so hiring an event stylist is a must. Buti na lang, I remembered that Lala also does event styling, and she’s also from Las Pinas, kaya madaling puntahan. Buti rin pumayag sya within short notice, because we signed the contract Thursday lang before our wedding! She’s really an angel, heaven sent talaga!
The first thing I asked Queen when I got to the church was, “Ok ba set up ni Lala?” And she replied, “Ok naman…” I said to myself, hmmmm, bat “Ok naman” lang ang comment nya? So I was apprehensive at first. But when we had our grand entrance, grabe, natuwa talaga ako. Sa sobrang tuwa ko, napabilis yung grand entrance namin, nainis tuloy si hubby kasi favorite nya yung song (More today than yesterday), natapos daw agad kasi ang bilis ko daw maglakad. Hehehe. The mood lights really made a difference, pati yung decors sa couple’s table and sa lamp posts. She put hanging votive candles at the lamp posts, as well as swags and Japanese lanterns. Ang ganda ng effect! She’s very creative and generous with ideas, and she’s reasonable naman with the quotations rin, and gives you options based on your budget. Ang galing nya talaga!

Catering by Hizon’s – 3
Almost all comments naman about Hizon’s is that their AEs are not good in coordinating with their clients pre-wedding, but they deliver well naman. Our AE is so kakaiba, parang sabog na hindi ko maintindihan. She’s saying that she updated me daw re the cake and flower arrangement, when in fact, she has never updated me at all! Nung humihingi na sya ng 3rd payment, dun lang sya nag-text but prior to that, I was always the one calling them first. Sinabihan pa kong may amnesia! She doesn’t seem professional to me rin, kasi parang di nya alam yung products nila, parating “Ma’am, confirm ko po ulit sa inyo”, eh hindi naman tumatawag ulit.
But then, all’s well that ends well! Ok yung food nila, the floral arrangements were very nice, attentive din naman yung mga waiters, reasonable yung package, and maayos yung set-up nila. Included na rin sa package yung cake, but I had to upgrade and add 1500. Yung flowers naman, upgraded rin, I forgot how much I added, pero wala pa atang 5k.

Photo-Video by Studio A (Ghie Javelosa) - 4
Ghie is also an angel sent from above. Grabe talaga sya, kitang kita mo yung passion nya about her work, kahit pagod na pagod na sya, go pa rin sya sa mga poses. She really would do that extra mile. Kaya sobrang love namin si Ghie, dahil sobrang tyaga nya talaga. And like what another wawie said, para syang mother. Kasi I was getting tired sa kaka-pose during wedding preps. She wanted me to smile a certain way, eh di ko na talaga magawa. So I said, nas-stress na ko, so lumapit sya sa kin, and she made me do breathing exercises. Hahaha! She made me feel relaxed, at di na rin nya ko pinilit coz she knows it won’t look as good sa pics. Even with the pre-nup pictorials, ok rin si Manny (Javelosa)

OTD Coordination by Just Like Ours (Queen David) – 3
It was at my friend’s wedding when I saw them in action, and I was very much impressed! Ok din naman kausap si Queen, she's very straight forward yet accomodating sa mga inquiries ko kahit OTD lang.
Come wedding day, very organized sila, and alagang-alaga kami ng hubby ko. Ultimo bag, ayaw nila ako pagbuhatin. Ok yung composition ng team nila. There's an accountant, make-up artist, and coutourier. So if something goes wrong, more or less they could cover it. Oh yeah, my husband told them to look for sari-sari stores nearby, in case maubos yung beer keg. Sure enough, naubos nga, at may nabili namang beer nearby :)
For her account of our wedding, here is her blog --> http://just-like-ours.blogspot.com
LCD Projector by Dennis Sy – 2
Dennis is easy to talk to. A wawie also referred him. Kaya lang, when I talked to him over the phone, ang quote nya sa kin is 4k for a 3000 lumen projector. When I did an ocular at one of their events, I met up with his assistant, then they prepared a contract na, nakita ko na 5k na yung quote. So I had to call up Dennis again, and ask for a discount.

Music by The Sentimental Groove – 3
They're very good! My husband and I chose 70's songs for our repertoire, nasunod naman sila. Magaling din si Tata James, we danced to his rendition of "What a wonderful world..." Sa church naman, medyo sumablay sila dun sa theme song ng Dubai the movie, but that's ok. They performed well naman.

Church – Parish of St. Joseph (Bamboo Organ Church) – 3
It's really where I wanted to get married. It's a relatively small church, great for intimate weddings. We're also from Las Pinas, kaya its very convenient to us and our family. Before kasi, they only allow weddings for non-parishioners during Tuesdays and Thursdays. So when I inquired, pwede na pala sila ng Saturdays, so I booked right away. Ok din kausap si Miss Miles, very accomodating sa mga inquiries, and they also helped us in facilitating my husband's confirmation.

Reception – St. Joseph Hall – 2
The SJ Hall was not really our first choice, but then the weather was unpredictable, so better safe than sorry. It was more expensive than the Courtyard, and we also had to hire an event stylist. Buti na lang Lala was able to dress it up, and it really looked nice.
Wedding Rings by Damas – 3
The rings were sponsored by my sister-in-law. She bought them in Dubai. The swarovski bracelet cuff was bought in 168 by mom.

Beer Keg by San Miguel Beer – 3
I just called 632-BEER 2 days before our wedding, and that was it! Hit na hit din ang beer keg!

Invitations by Unifair – 2
The invitations are semi-DIY, I was the one who did the layout, sent it to Shirley to have it printed. Ok naman sila kausap, yun nga lang when I was about to get the invites, I called them up first to confirm, ready na daw. When I got there, di pa pala. Still recommended if you have a tight budget.
The wraps naman, I bought handmade paper at a store in Sto. Cristo street in Divisoria.
The raffia naman, I bought in Tabora St.
Souvenirs - DIY
My mom's labor of love! She bought the bottles in Divi, then she crochet'd the green covers. The jellybeans were bought by my aunts from the US.
Guest Sheets - DIY
I got the idea here in W@W, did the layout in WORD, then printed it using glossy photo paper. I included our favorite pics. Sayang nga di nakahabol ang pre-nup pics namin :-)
Missalette - DIY
Since our theme was zen, I just got some bamboo clipart from the internet, then had it printed in parchment paper, which I bought at National Bookstore. The arrhae naman, we just got some coins - dirhams, silver dollars, old Philippine coins, and also the new 10 peso coins.
To the Weddings@Work community, my sincerest thanks, especially to Jane ni Joey! Our wedding would not be as memorable without the wealth of information provided by this group.
